Understanding the situation in the municipalities
Understanding the situation in the municipalities
As a result of all the work carried on so far, the project team has now a deep understanding of the Paper for Recycling collection and management systems of the different municipalities involved in the project. This work was supported and facilitated by the elaboration of three documents:
- An assessment and synthesis of the non-public “Completed questionnaires and benchmarking report”, explaining the common methodology for best practice collection developed by the partners to describe evaluate, and identify the key elements and aspects of selected best-performing territories.
- A public report giving an account of the current situation in the seven defined clusters (territories) in five countries, which are the focus of the project
- Elaboration of a first list of the (Key) Performance Indicators identified to assess the performance of collection and management systems. A final list of (K)PIs will be provided together with the main output of the project – the Best Practice Handbook.
Moreover, the project’s External Support Committee (ESC) was extended and has now reached 18 members. The ESC aims to bring an external perspective and expertise into the project, by gathering members coming from a diverse range of stakeholders (waste management companies, paper industry, NGOs, academia, municipalities, etc.) and providing regular input as the project progresses. Some of the ESC members also attended the first project conference held in Barcelona on 25 January 2017 and hosted by the Catalan Waste Management Agency (see next article).
