Discovering the municipalities of Dupnitsa and Mezdra
A second study visit took place in the month of April in Bulgaria where project partners spent two days in the municipalities of Dupnitsa and Mezdra. They had the opportunity to learn about the paper collection system for households and small businesses and to discover the existing treatment facilities. The visits were organised by the municapilities of Dupnitsa and Mezdra and were attended by ITENE, ACR+, Hamburger Recycling, PTS and Fenix Dupnitsa.
The one-day visits to both municipalities included a walk through the city centres, revealing the waste collection infrastructure. Project partners furthermore visited several small shops and businesses in order to get an understanding of how assimilated paper waste is being collected and managed. The local waste management facilities – including a landfill and an MBT plant – were also part of the agenda. In between the different sites, there were plenty of opportunities where municipality experts shared interesting and relevant information with the study group.
